Cambridge House of Swansea, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting a Holiday Shopping Extravaganza from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The community, which is located in the St. Louis Metro East area, provides seniors of all incomes with the opportunity to live in a residential apartment-home environment and receive personal assistance and help with medications.
“Take advantage of this opportunity to do your Holiday Shopping,” says Lee Bohannon-Smith, Administrator of Cambridge House of Swansea. Thirty One, Pampered Chef and Scentsy are among the many vendors who will be participating.
Cambridge House of Swansea is located at 3900 Sullivan Dr. in Swansea, Illinois.
The community also will be holding a Thanksgiving Pie Social at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
“We will be serving a variety of pies and beverages so some and join us,” says Smith.

Cambridge House of Swansea is one of three Cambridge House affordable assisted living communities in the Metro East. Cambridge House communities also are located in Maryville and O’Fallon, Illinois.
All three communities are fully certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program and managed by BMA Management, Ltd., the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
“Our focus is on providing older adults with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve in addition to the care and assistance that they need,” says Rod Burkett, President and Chief Executive Officer of BMA. “Our emphasis is on helping each resident achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible.”
Residents of the Cambridge House affordable assisted living communities live in private apartments include a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, and an emergency alert system.
Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide residents with the help that they need. Meals, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.
“The communities provide a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home,” says Burkett.
Because the communities operate through the Supportive Living program, they are able to serve older adults of all financial means, including those on Medicaid, says Burkett.
