“The Internet and Web 2.0, the Social Web, have left behind a large portion of our population by ignoring the need for accessibility. With the launch of EmpowerEveryone.com, comparison shopping has now been made available to everyone,”said Michael Dorety,

Empower Technologies, LLC today announced the launch of http://www.EmpowerEveryone.com, an accessible comparison shopping service developed to create “equal access for everyone” with emphasis on the inclusion of more than 130 million individuals in the U.S. with special needs due to aging and disabilities. The service also provides an exceptional procurement solution for the communities, government agencies and educational institutions mandated to follow federal, state and local regulations when purchasing technology equipment.

“The Internet and Web 2.0, the Social Web, have left behind a large portion of our population by ignoring the need for accessibility,” said Michael Dorety, Founder and CEO of Empower Technologies. “With the launch of EmpowerEveryone.com, comparison shopping has now been made available to everyone.”

The accessible comparison shopping site is the largest of its kind and provides over 25 million general merchandise products categorized and presented through a user interface developed to appropriately interact with Assistive Technology(AT) devices such as screen readers, magnifiers and alternative input devices used by individuals with limited functionality or disabilities in the home, educational or workplace environment. The service has been designed using state-of-the-art tools and practices to ensure compliance with Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act (Section508.gov) and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the International community that develops standards to lead the Web to its full potential (W3.org).

“We have spent several years and engaged some of the most respected experts in the Accessibility Industry to help design and implement our service,” said Michael Bissell, CTO of Empower Technologies. “We hope individuals with all abilities will enjoy the freedom and price advantages derived from comparison shopping on our Website.” In the months ahead the company intends to launch a comprehensive content portal which will deliver information, products and services intended to support the requirements of individuals of all ages with special needs as well as the communities that assist them.

To expand the Website’s reach, and to fulfill its interest in giving back to the community that supports the aging population and individuals with disabilities, the company is offering an affiliate marketing program with which it will share revenues with other Websites interested in promoting the EmpowerEveryone.com shopping service. The program will allow both commercial and non-profit organizations the opportunity to generate revenue from EmpowerEveryone.com by simply placing an affiliate badge on their Websites. The Affiliate Partner Portal is planned for launch first quarter 2010.
