With the Astaro Security Gateway in place, our doctors are happier with their remote access and they are able to be more productive even when they aren’t in the office.

Astaro Corporation (, a leading Unified Threat management provider, today announced that Associates in Rehabilitation Medicine(, a New Jersey based private practice group, improved productivity and helped achieve compliance with HIPAA guidelines by deploying the Astaro Security Gateway. The Astaro Security Gateway improved the organization’s VPN connections so doctors are now able to work remotely, improving their productivity. Additionally, the organization was able to improve productivity by curbing non-work related web browsing.

The Associates in Rehabilitation Medicine’s doctors needed to access files and catch up on paperwork when not in the office. However, the organization’s VPN connection was slow and often time doctors were unable to connect. Using the Astaro Security Gateway the association’s doctors are now able to easily and securely connect to the network, allowing them to complete their work as needed.

“I was receiving complaints on a daily basis about our VPN connection. Doctors weren’t able to get their work done,” said Joan Ledzian, Practice Administrator for Associates in Rehabilitation Medicine. “With the Astaro Security Gateway in place, our doctors are happier with their remote access and they are able to be more productive even when they aren’t in the office.”

Because the organization stores private patient information on their network, security was a major concern for the Associates in Rehabilitation Medicine. Deploying the Astaro Security Gateway provided the associates with a more secure network and helped the practice become HIPAA complaint, a requirement for any healthcare organization.

Ledzian continued: “I now have peace of mind from knowing our network is protected and that our organization is more productive, all from deploying the Astaro Security Gateway.”

When selecting the Astaro Security Gateway the Associates in Rehabilitation Medicine worked with technology consultant Bavelle Technologies. Bavelle, an Astaro partner, recommended the Astaro Security Gateway.

“I’ve worked with other security vendors in the past but feel the Astaro Security Gateway is a better fit for healthcare organizations,” said Oren David, CEO, Bavelle Technologies. “It provides all the protection and capabilities a healthcare organization needs. Overall it is a better product at a competitive price. This is one of the many reasons our company decided to join the Astaro partner community.”

“Healthcare organizations require a unique balance of protection and connectivity in order for their many health care providers to care for their patients,” said David Rogers, Vice President, Americas, Astaro Corporation, “The Astaro Security Gateway is well suited to providing this balance.”
