The great supercars are equally at home on the boulevard as they are on the race track. In a similar manner, the APL Concours is equally at home on and off the basketball court.

Athletic Propulsion Labs® announced today the introduction of the APL® Concours basketball shoe. The release of the newest APL high performance basketball shoe, combines a luxurious upper, inspired by the dramatic quilted interiors of the world’s finest supercars, with the performance of the revolutionary APL patent-pending Load 'N Launch™ technology designed to instantly increase vertical leap. The Concours features the exact same technology as the APL Concept 1 which was banned by the NBA in October 2010.

Every pair of APL Concours shoes includes the unique APL Laces Kit as a free gift with purchase. In addition to the black laces that come with the shoe, the kit includes 6 sets of supercar-inspired colored laces from royal blue, purple, APL green, neon pink, teal and yellow, to create 7 different looks in a single shoe. Consumers can dramatically change the look of the Concours depending upon which of the 7 accent color laces they use.

"The APL Concours is our latest offering since we introduced the APL Concept 1 a year ago. The name was derived from the world-famous Concours D'Elegance auto show in Pebble Beach, California where the most exotic cars in the world are displayed. The shoe’s upper takes inspiration directly from the interior of the Bentley Brooklands, while the visible Load ‘N Launch™ outsole technology was inspired by the exposed engine compartment of the Bugatti Veyron. The use of high quality leather, suede and the signature quilted pattern helps distinguish these world-class automobiles and we wanted to emulate that design in the upper of the APL Concours basketball shoes," said Ryan Goldston, Co-Founder of Athletic Propulsion Labs.

“The great supercars are equally at home on the boulevard as they are on the race track. In a similar manner, the APL Concours is equally at home on and off the basketball court. Just as supercars feature incredibly powerful engines that generate massive power and torque, the APL Concours employs the company’s revolutionary Load 'N Launch™ technology, to provide athletes with the power and torque to generate an instant increase in vertical leap of up to 3.5 inches" said Adam Goldston, Co-Founder of Athletic Propulsion Labs.

The APL Concours features a fine leather toe, complemented by quilted suede side panels and a clear, crystal rubber outsole exposing the company’s Load ‘N Launch™ technology on the forefoot. The design, flexibility and performance characteristics of the APL Concours make it a compelling shoe on and off the court. Athletic Propulsion Labs continues to pride itself on producing the latest in footwear innovation and performance technology. The APL Concours is sold exclusively on the company’s website at at $195.00 per pair including the APL Laces Kit.

About Athletic Propulsion Labs®:
Athletic Propulsion Labs was founded in Los Angeles, California by twin brothers Adam and Ryan Goldston, two former University of Southern California basketball players. The company is dedicated to the creation of world-class, breakthrough technology that significantly enhances the performance of athletes in a variety of sports. The inaugural product from Athletic Propulsion Labs, the patented APL Concept 1 basketball shoe, features the revolutionary Load ‘N Launch™ Technology. The patent-pending Load ‘N Launch™ device is implanted in a cavity in the forefoot of the shoe and serves as a ‘launch pad’ by taking the energy exerted by the player and increasing lift with the aid of an intricate, spring-based propulsion system. In biomechanical testing at a leading west coast university laboratory, the Athletic Propulsion Labs Concept 1 shoes delivered increases in vertical leap of up to 3.5 inches when compared against a leading competitive brand’s most expensive basketball shoe.

APL’s Concept 1 basketball shoes were introduced on March 24, 2010. The NBA ban of the APL Concept 1 shoes occurred on October 19, 2010 and marked the first time in the 64-year history of the NBA that a shoe was banned because it provided an “undue competitive advantage”. The NBA ban of the APL Concept 1 shoes became an instant global news event and was one of the most popular stories of the day. According to Google, over 250,000 articles on the ban were published within 24 hours of the announcement, including those by AP, USA Today, Yahoo! News, ESPN, Sports Illustrated and television and radio media worldwide.
