The Atlanta Falcons are certainly off to a great start this season, currently ranked 2nd on the NFL Power Ratings list. TicketHunterOnline announces 25% reduction of all Atlanta Falcons tickets for 2012 & 2013, with promo "FALCON".
Ever since Mike Smith has taken over as the Falcon's head coach (since 08' season), the team has had more wins than almost every other team in the NFL, besides the Patrots. This season has started off great, with the Falcons leading the way with a 5 and 0 record... their best in the franchise's history thus far. Coach Mike Smith is only 1 win away from tying Dan Reeves for conducting the most wins in the team's history to date.
In an interview with ESPN this week, Smith stated: ''We want to sustain this not just from game to game, but season to season,'' he said. ''We want to be a relevant football team in the months of December and January. That's what we really want to do as an organization.''
In addition to Mike Smith, the Falcons' success can also be attributed to Thomas Dimitroff, the general manager who was brought on in 2008 as well. Recognized as one of the top gurus in the game, Dimitroff primarily focuces on the draft to rebuild Atlanta's team to where it is today.
The players have also taken on the strong character of their coach, showing tremendous focus during practices in the week, and unleasing fury every Sunday.
''During the week, we try to be even-keeled,'' Mike Smith also said. ''You've got to go through your preparations as a coaching staff and as a team. Then, you go play with emotion on game days. The guys do a really good job of that.''
Atlanta has shown plenty of resiliency, especially after their first 3 wins this season... with two comebacks in the second-half. Against Carolina, they pulled through with only a second left, in addition to knocking off Washington 24 to 17, coming from behind in a huge big game. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, is already an early favorite for MVP this year for his showing thus far.
Normally, Mike Smith would let the team take off every Monday after a win, however after their amazing showing against Washington, 85% percent of the team voluntarily showed up to the training complex- showing great determination this seasn.
''They're visiting with their coaches and wanting to talk about certain things, more about the things they did poorly than the things they did good,'' Smith said. ''When you have guys doing that, it takes care of itself. We have great leaders in the locker room who make sure we focus on the task at hand. Right now, it's just a start. Yes, we may be 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. But it's just a start, guys, just a start.''
Matt Ryan is currently completing more than 68 percent of his attempts, accounting for 1,507 yards with 13 touchdowns, with only 3 interceptions.
''It is a great start for us, it really is,'' Ryan said. ''At this point, you can't really worry about what is going on in the history of our organization, but we have put ourselves right where we need to be five games into it.''
