The FCP platform is designed to optimize the BGP protocol. BGP is the core protocol the Internet was built on in the 1970's. For the small percentage of Atlanta data centers, such as DynaSis, that have multiple high-speed redundant Internet connections, the FCP provides network performance management, optimization, and monitoring. Without an FCP, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is often the default routing mechanism, blindly routing data over connections based on the shortest amount of hops - a choice that frequently results in poor performance.
