Ultimately, Toys for Tats™ is a beautiful representation of the spirit of Christmas and ultimately the spirit of giving.
Tampa, FL (Vocus) December 8, 2009
For the fifth consecutive year, the nation’s largest and fastest growing tattoo inspired experiential retail brand, Atomic Tattoos is hosting their "Toys for Tats™" toy drive benefitting the local U.S. Marine Corp.’s Toys for Tots program. The goal of the program is to collect as many new, unwrapped toys for needy children of all ages in the community, in order for the less fortunate to be able to experience the joys of the holiday season.
President and CEO Steve Cannon attributes the idea of "Toys for Tats™" to being the product of an innovative brainstorming session he and his staff had, while thinking about ways for the company to directly give back to their local communities.
Every person who brings a new, unwrapped toy with a value of $5 or greater to their local Atomic Tattoos location, will receive a $20 Atomic Tattoos Gift Certificate. The toys are given to the local US Marine Corp.’s Toys for Tots drive, and the toys are then distributed to local families in need within each community. Within the first week of holding this drive, more than 1,000 toys have been donated for families in need, at the 13 Atomic Tattoo locations in Tampa, Orlando and Milwaukee.
Since Atomic Tattoos launched this community responsibility program in 2003, they have received and donated more than 12,000 toys, valued at more than $60,000 that have helped 4,000 families in Tampa, Orlando and Milwaukee. Each year the total number of toys collected by Atomic Tattoos has more than doubled.
"We believe that businesses can further the participation of local citizens to donate to their communities by providing some form of incentive," states Cannon. "The generosity in our community has been amazing and has truly touched all of us. We’ve had customers drop off everything from video game consoles to custom-made bicycles."
The Atomic Tattoos Toys for Tats™ 2009 campaign runs through December 23, 2009. Toys can be delivered during business hours at each of Atomic Tattoos’ 13 locations throughout Tampa Bay, Orlando and Milwaukee. The Marine's Toys for Tots stops toy pick up sometime around December 20th because there would not be sufficient time to distribute the toys through their centers. Therefore, during the final few days Atomic’s staff hand delivers the toys to Children's Hospitals in each of their markets.
"Ultimately, to me, Toys for Tats™ is a beautiful representation of the spirit of Christmas and ultimately the spirit of giving," Cannon concludes.
Plans for the future of Toys for Tats™ include making this program available for other tattoo studios throughout the United States to participate in their own communities, improving the holidays for that many more children throughout the country.
