Audio Advice announced today the acquisition of ZoboTV. Audio Advice and ZoboTV are currently the top two specialty home audio, video and automation companies in North Carolina.

“The combination of Audio Advice and ZoboTV provides a consumer product offering that is unmatched in the Carolinas. With the most innovative home electronics offering and the best system consultants and installation technicians in the Carolinas, we believe this combination is going to benefit customers from Charlotte to Raleigh,” said Audio Advice president Scott Newnam.

“ZoboTV is an incredible custom installation business in Charlotte. Our combined companies will have over 65 of the most talented audio, video and automation experts in the Carolinas. There is simply no other place with this much expertise,” said Leon Shaw, founder and chairman of Audio Advice.

Newnam outlined how the deal came together, “We’ve known Jay Faison, founder of ZoboTV and president of SnapAV for the past few years. He has built two quite amazing companies. Most recently he has spent the vast majority of his time building SnapAV. We approached him with the idea of combining ZoboTV and Audio Advice. We thought the concept was pretty compelling—the combination would allow us to collectively offer more cutting-edge home electronics, deeper product expertise, and an unmatched 24/7 365 day service team. No audio video company could come anywhere near the capabilities of the combined company. At the same time, Jay could devote more of his attention to the rapidly growing and successful SnapAV business.”

Faison, ZoboTV owner and founder, said, “I am extremely proud of what we have built at ZoboTV. I am equally excited about the offering that ZoboTV and Audio Advice will provide together. Customers are increasingly looking for the best expertise and the best solutions in the marketplace. We believe the combined companies will provide just that. This is also perfect timing for me as I have dedicated almost all of my energy and time to the growing SnapAV business.”

Audio Advice was founded in Raleigh by Leon Shaw in 1978. At its 30th anniversary, Audio Advice was named the Best Audio/Video Specialty Retailer in the United States by TWICE Magazine. Audio Advice specializes in high performance audio systems and home electronics. Over the past decade ZoboTV built the largest specialty audio/video retailer in Charlotte. In 2010, Audio Advice opened its Charlotte location in Pineville. Around the same time ZoboTV opened a new store near SouthPark mall in Charlotte. All of the stores will remain open with their current teams. Offerings in both stores will be expanded as part of the deal as will customer service offerings.
