The USDA organic certification means that customers can be assured that no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or processing agents are used to produce these oils.

Here's good news for consumers who want to incorporate more organic products into their everyday lives. Aura Cacia, the leading essential oil brand in the U.S., is launching the first-ever line of USDA-certified organic essential oils. The collection of 25 organic essential oils includes the most popular oils – lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint and tea tree.

"The USDA organic certification means that customers can be assured that no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or processing agents are used to produce these oils,” explains Aura Cacia senior brand manager, Jane Merten. She also notes that overall consumer demand for natural health and beauty-care products is on the rise, with sales estimated to reach $12 billion by 2014.

If that's not reason enough to switch to certified organic essential oils , here's another. Aura Cacia's unique program, called the "1% Fund," returns one percent of its sales of all organic essential oils directly back to the farmers and the communities that produce the oils. "The farmers are certified organic and are already using sustainable growing methods. Through our 1% Fund, we make an even bigger impact in the communities in which our oils are grown,” noted Merten. "Money from this fund is used for everything from supporting education for the children in the community, to larger initiatives such as providing funding to improve organic farming operations or improving the water supply to the whole community.”

Essential oils are the highly concentrated, aromatic essences of plants. People use them in a wide variety of ways including massage oils, air fresheners, and bath blends. (Go to to find "recipes" for blending oils for a number of beauty-care and household uses.)

In addition to the USDA-Certified organic line, all Aura Cacia essential oils have a purity guarantee. They have been rigorously tested using state-of-the-art gas chromatography mass spectrometry to confirm they are free of any adulterants. "Consumers will also appreciate that these certified organic essential oils come from a single source, which is listed on the product label,” adds Merten. "By being involved in the production process from 'the crop to the drop,' we guarantee the purest essential oils on the planet.”

The Organic Trade Association states that 73% of consumers have purchased organic products. Organic options continue to gain momentum in personal care products, growing more than 30% during the past 12 months. Aura Cacia organic essential oils are available at natural & organic product retailers across the U.S. and online at
