Our goal is to provide practical social media tips and tactics that attendees can walk away with to implement on their own and to support them even after the event.

LocalizeAustin and Better Bites of Austin are hosting Food & Facebook: Social Media as an Ingredient for Success on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, to help the Austin food and beverage producer community maximize the impact of social media tools and technologies to help their businesses grow.

This seminar is the second in a series of three events hosted in part by LocalizeAustin early this year to help local Austin businesses discover, gain access to, and utilize cost-effective marketing and communication tools. “We recognize that small business owners wear many hats and get little sleep. This leaves minimal time to learn how to strategically use interactive online tools for their brands,” said LocalizeAustin founder, Rebecca Otis. “Our goal at this event is to provide practical social media tips and tactics that attendees can walk away with to implement on their own and to support them even after the event.”

Austin food and beverage producers are creating quality products and are now facing the challenge of connecting with an audience whose attention is in high demand.

"We know that social networking can be an amazing way to connect our products with the people who want them,” said Lauri Raymond, Treasurer of the Better Bites of Austin board and owner of Fresh Dressings, an all-natural dressings and sauces company. “It's getting started or figuring out how to do it better that can be the hard part.”

This event will cover ways small businesses can reach potential customers, generate and maintain customer loyalty, and utilize effective and low-cost social media tools. “LocalizeAustin will give concrete suggestions on how to customize these technologies for our food and beverage brands, set priorities, and take easy-to-implement steps that will lead to more visibility and sales,” said Raymond.

Food & Facebook: Social Media as an Ingredient for Success will be held at Rio's Brazilian Cafe, located at 408 N. Pleasant Valley Road, on January 31, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tickets for Better Bites of Austin members cost $35 and tickets for nonmembers are $45. Attendees can purchase tickets in advance at foodandfacebook.eventbrite.com or at the door.
