"Among the most in-demand skills are customer service, call center, pharmaceutical customer support, assembly, and warehouse."

The American Fitness Index cites the presence of health and recreational facilities, policies for physical education in schools, and health indicators as contributory to Austin's top ranking for all ages and genders, making it the healthiest city for young children, adults and the elderly.
Trip Advisor also names Austin as a favorite travel destination within the US, as the city boasts of a laid-back nightlife scene and growing entertainment industry. Two of its local outdoor restaurants, the Lustre Pearl and Hotel San Jose's courtyard, outranks all other watering holes nationwide. Austin's shops and malls ranks 12th in America's choice shopping destinations.
The crime rate in the city also remains one of the lowest, making it one of the safest places to live in.
Technology and Environment
Balancing technological and infrastructure development with environmental issues, Austin succeeds in landing among the cities that "have already laid the groundwork for the pathway to a national green economy", according to the Corporate Knights - The Company for Green Capitalism. The report is based on "municipal policies and programs adopted and implemented" by cities to save energy, protect the environment, promote green economic development, and enhance the overall quality of life.
Colleges and Universities
The city is home to some of the state's top universities, which includes University of Texas-Austin, Austin Community College, Texas State University-San Marcos, St. Edwards University and Concordia University-Texas, with a combined enrollment population of 138,287 students for fall in 2011, and a total combined $3.17 billion for 2012 budget.
