Liveport, a leading high-speed wireless Internet provider to hotels and resorts in North America, today announced a major expansion to begin servicing hotels throughout Australia.

The announcement comes amid growing concern from Australian travelers and hotel owners alike that wireless Internet services are falling behind what is offered in North America and Europe, with poor signal, low speeds and high prices the norm throughout the country.

With offices in Canada and the United States and more than 25,000 hotel and resort guest rooms in service, Liveport is a leader in high quality, low-cost hospitality wireless. The company’s arrival into Australia is expected to give hoteliers a compelling new option in hotel WiFi delivery.

Jeff Rhode, President of Liveport Australia, said the company takes a different approach to hotel wireless, combining leading technology and service with 24/7 toll-free guest technical support. Liveport uses cloud managed mesh-node technology, which allows for 100% coverage throughout hotels and resorts, typically without running new cables. Rhode said that because Liveport manages networks through the cloud, there are no servers on site.

“Liveport's mesh technology is perfect for hotels, and works great with the mobile phones and tablets guests are traveling with now,” said Rhode. “Combining this with the ability to manage everything through the cloud allows us to provide a rich, fully managed system without the cost or complexity of traditional setups.”

The company has already installed systems at five hotels in Victoria since last month.

“Liveport has been a great addition to our property,” said Mark Vaughan, owner of Best Western Admirality Motor Inn in Geelong, Victoria. “Guests are continually telling us how much they appreciate having free and fast wifi. I think Liveport is now the standard others have to measure up to.”

Liveport provides hotels with all wireless hardware, advanced network management, 24/7 guest technical support and more for $2.99 per room, per month. Unlike major competitors, Liveport doesn’t charge for installation or hardware, eliminating up-front capital costs. The company provides hotel owners with total cost certainty for their wireless network, and the ability to provide service for free, pay, or a combination of the two.

“It’s a very cost effective way to deliver a high-value service to guests,” added Rhode.
