In this new era of digital publishing with eBooks, POD books and more, there are now many paths to publication
Bloomington, IN (Vocus) October 8, 2010
The inaugural episode of the Indie Revolution Update focuses on a recent major announcement made jointly by the San Francisco Writers Conference and Author Solutions, Inc.—the world leader in indie book publishing. The SFWC revealed that for the first time, the conference’s annual writing contest is being sponsored by ASI.
"In this new era of digital publishing with eBooks, POD books and more, there are now many paths to publication," said Laurie McLean, SFWC contest director. "We are offering the indie alternative—working to establish the credibility for indie book publishing that the indie film and music industries enjoy today."
The deadline for submission is January 5, 2011, and it is open to American-based writers exclusively. Fees are $35 per entry for the fiction, non-fiction/memoir and children's/young adult categories; and $25 for the poetry category. Winners will be announced during the 2011 SFWC, Feb. 18–20, 2011.
The contest’s four category winners will receive their choice of a one-hour agent consultation or a free self-publishing package from an ASI imprint. One grand prize winner will receive an indie book publishing package that features: full publishing services; 90 days mentoring from a literary agent; 90 days of publicity consulting with an AuthorHive publicist; a professionally-produced video book trailer; an in-store book signing and much more.
