"For too long authors sought approval of publishers to bring their works to readers and most times the work languished in a desk drawer somewhere. This speech is about empowering the author again by ‘going indie.’”
Bloomington, Ind. (Vocus/PRWEB) February 17, 2011
Author Solutions, Inc., the world leader in indie book publishing, announced Wednesday that Keith Ogorek, ASI senior vice president of marketing and indie author, will speak at the 2011 San Francisco Writers Conference to be held Feb. 18-20 at the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel. Ogorek’s speech, titled “What Good Does it Do to Die with a Manuscript in Your Drawer,” will be held at 9 a.m. PST in the hotel’s Willard Room.
“With indie publishing thriving, there is no excuse for not publishing your book,” said Ogorek. “For too long authors sought approval of publishers to bring their works to readers and most times the work languished in a desk drawer somewhere. This speech is about empowering the author again by ‘going indie.’”
Ogorek, a frequent speaker at such national conventions as the annual AARP@50+ came to indie publishing first as an author. After publishing “A Clear View” in 2006; he joined AuthorHouse in a corporate marketing capacity. He’s since published the children’s book “Eli the Stable Boy” and shepherded ASI from its infancy to its current leadership position.
Further proof of ASI’s rising prominence in publishing is its sponsorship of this year SFWC writing contest. Renamed the Indie Publishing Contest, writers will compete for more than $30,000 in self-publishing packages and promotional services. ASI also will be on hand at the SFWC to speak with authors who are interested in pursuing indie book publishing as an option for bringing their books to readers.
