Flexible Automation Systems Enhanced with Remote Support by AEi
Automotive, Cell Phone and Photonic OEMs Drive Demand for Global 24X7
Support of Flexible Automation Systems using Virtual Network Computing
Technology
WILMINGTON, Mass. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) June 24, 2008 --
Automation Engineering Incorporated
(AEi), a global supplier of high-precision automation systems, now
ships all of its flexible automation systems with online remote support
capabilities. AEi’s flexible automation
systems integrate machine vision guided automation into a variety of
challenging manufacturing applications for customers around the world.
AEi delivers flexible automation systems based on a number of
configurable standard platforms for applications including camera
module alignment; precision
alignment, assembly
and testing of photonic or optoelectronic packages; precision
laser welding, drilling, cutting and marking; and fiber
drawing. Using the remote support capabilities based on Virtual
Network Computing technology, AEi supports customer installations around
the world with services ranging from routine diagnostics to process
refinement and faultfinding. Support sessions use 128-bit encryption and
are only initiated from the customer site as an enhanced security
measure and to protect customer data.
According to AEi’s Chief Operating Officer
Justin Roe, “We initially built Virtual
Network Computing capabilities into our CMAT
(Camera module, align, assembly and test) systems to offer customers
enhanced options for worldwide service to meet their needs for
to-the-minute support. After the success of that application, we decided
to push forward and offer Virtual Network Computing capabilities on all
of our systems. Remote support diagnostics allow us to quickly resolve
service requests. Further, if we find that it is a hardware problem that
requires on-site service, we can arrive at the client site with the
correct replacement hardware,” concluded Roe.
AEi’s flexible automation stations use
machine vision and kinematic
couplings to enable OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to
quickly produce different models on the same equipment and production
lines with minimal changeover requirements. AEi also uses its
configurable flexible
automation software (FlexAuto) to design and deploy flexible
automation systems that use the optimal mix of motion stages and
actuators, cameras, sensors, and other instrumentation to meet the
specific needs of a given application.
