New robust features enhance performance and ease configuration delivering the industries highest value and lowest TCO load balancer.

AVANU®, today announces the availability of CAI Networks™ WebMux™ Traffic Management and Load Balancers with firmware version 8 which simplifies configuration, expands versatility and enhances the performance of WebMux. The robust features of WebMux, which are specifically tailored for load balancing and web traffic management, deliver the industries’ highest value, lowest TCO product. Firmware version 8 adds communications Layers 2/3 while boosting performance of existing Layers 4-7. Configuration and network management is simplified through the addition of SNA layers 2/3 while the performance capacity has been increased to support up to 3,000,000 layer-4 sessions and 70,000 layer-7 sessions. AVANU is now shipping WebMux models 480S, 590SG and 590SGX with firmware version 8 supporting Layers 2/3/4/5/7.

WebMux is a stand-alone, ready-to-install load balancer for managing IP traffic to multiple servers on local 10/100/1000 Ethernet networks. Transactions are directed to the appropriate servers based on URL or cookie, and SSL acceleration. WebMux features menu-driven ease of configuration for speedy deployments and offers low total cost of ownership (TCO). New users will be able to install WebMux in their existing network without modifying the network route or IP address. WebMux firmware version upgrade is covered under CAI’s standard three (3) year product warranty that cover parts and labor and three (3) years of technical support. “Our WebMux customers continue to reap the benefits of choosing a solid performing and powerful enterprise level load balancer,” stated Al Juodikis, Vice President of Business Development at AVANU. “CAI’s focus on providing continuous, scaleable performance enhancements demonstrate their commitment to providing customers significant ROI. IT professionals in business, government, manufacturing, banking, and online business have chosen WebMux based on the total cost of ownership, the minimal effort for configuring and maintenance, and the reliable network services.”

WebMux firmware version 8 does not require content servers to be reconfigured. With WebMux’s new transparent mode, IP addresses and network routes can remain unchanged, greatly simplifying WebMux implementation and network management. Layer 2/3 enabled WebMux will work with Spanning Tree Protocol enabled network switches that provide redundant paths. There is no artificial limit for number of servers or farms WebMux can support. All WebMux products shipped henceforth will have version 8.0 firmware installed and will support layer 2/3/4/5/7 load balancing.

WebMux with firmware version 8 is available today from AVANU, an Authorized Distributor for CAI Networks (http://www.avanu.com). List price for WebMux model 480S (10/100) is US$3999, 590SG (10/100/1000) is US$5999, and 590SGX (10/100/1000 with hardware SSL acceleration) is US$6499.
