The Professional Beauty Association announced winners of the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) at a ceremony on Sunday, July 19th, held at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. NAHA celebrated its twentieth year as the most prestigious photographic beauty competition in North America, with an evening themed: "Honoring the Work. Stories. Style!" Industry legends Vivienne Mackinder, who received the NAHA Lifetime Achievement Award, and Geno Stampora, who was inducted into the NAHA Hall of Leaders, were both honored. The Aveda network--including stylists, makeup artists, and salon owners--made a strong showing; 14 finalists were nominated in 9 out of 12 possible categories, including Hairstylist of the Year, Salon Design, and Student Hairstylist of the Year. Two Aveda network finalists took top honors in the Editorial Stylist and Makeup categories at Sunday night's awards.
Aveda is proud to congratulate Janell Geason, Aveda Guest Artist and Master Makeup Artist for Juut Salon/Spa in St. Paul, Minnesota, on her second consecutive Makeup Artist of the Year Award. Daniel Holzberger, Creative Director for Van Michael Salons in Atlanta, Georgia and Miami, Florida, was named Editorial Stylist of the Year.
"We are absolutely thrilled for all the NAHA nominees from the Aveda network, and offer our most heartfelt congratulations to Daniel and Janell," said Antoinette Beenders. "Their discipline and creative vision are a tribute to the craft of hairdressing."
"Young stylists are the future of the Aveda brand and the beauty industry," said Emmanuel Rey, General Manager of North American Sales of Aveda.
