They are really the backbone for our entire technology program here at Concordia Christian. As a small private school, we would be hard pressed to take care of all our technology needs without their assistance.

Bill Unverfehrt is the Principal at Concordia Christian Day School in Conover, North Carolina, a Lutheran School with 230 students in grades K-8 and 12 teachers. He's been a happy customer of North Carolina-based education technology specialist Walling Data for more than a decade.

"Concordia started its technology program back in 1997 with 6 or 8 computers and a single dial-up modem-router," Unverfehrt said. "Now we have around 100 computers, with 28 in the computer lab and between one and five in each classroom. Our school has really grown, and Walling Data has been a big part of our success in growing our computer network and keeping pace with changing technologies."

Walling Data has been the premier supplier of hardware, software, and technology services for more than 14 years from its two locations in North Carolina: one in Statesville, serving Iredell County, and one in Claremont, serving Catawba County. The company has over 10,000 customers in North Carolina, and over 50,000 nationwide. But back in 1997, when Concordia first began their relationship with Walling Data, technology in schools was in its infancy, and Walling Data was a one-man business.

"I remember when it was just Luke at Walling Data, then it was just Luke and Mike," said Unverfehrt. "We've grown our organizations together, so we're a bit like a mutual support team!"

AVG Protects Their Network; Walling Data Protects Their Budget:
Beyond getting Concordia Christian setup with the right computers and application software for their network, Walling Data has also been instrumental in securing that network against the myriad security threats of today's Internet. That security takes the form of AVG Anti-Virus, which Unverfehrt says they chose to purchase from Walling Data not just because of the existing business relationship, but because they offered significant education discounts.

Walling Data is the longest-standing and highest-volume distributor of AVG Technologies security solutions in North America. It's also the only distributor to offer all its customers free, unlimited, U.S.-based pre- and post-sales support.

"As a small, private school, funding is always an issue for us, so I appreciate that AVG Antivirus has an educational discount policy," said Unverfehrt. "Of course the quality of the protection is also important, but no protection is effective if we can't afford it!"

Unverfehrt says he has been extremely pleased with the level of service that Walling Data has provided them and that the school takes full advantage of the free and unlimited support they receive. "The Walling team has been there for us to resolve unexpected conflicts between other software and AVG on several occasions," Unverfehrt said. "They have gone above and beyond to help us here, even if that means staying until the wee hours of the morning to make sure the students and teachers will be able to use the computers the next day. I just can't say enough good things about their dedication to customer service."

In addition to AVG, Concordia has also purchased desktop and laptop computers, servers, mail server, firewall, and content filtering technology products that help keep students away from inappropriate websites. The school relies on Walling to support all their software and technology needs 24/7.

"While AVG Antivirus does a fantastic job in protecting our network from threats, Walling Data has also made sure that our firewalls are up to date and that our servers are protected," Unverfehrt said. "With the sheer breadth of material available on the Internet today, we'd be very hard pressed to provide sufficient protection for our students without the help of Walling Data. They've been a key partner for more than a decade, and I can't see that changing."

Professional Service, Friendly Folks:
Unverfehrt has not only worked with the Walling Data team for over ten years, but he considers many of the people there to be friends as well.

"We've known the Walling Data team a long time, and they've always given us sound advice," Unverfert said. "They are really the backbone for our entire technology program here at Concordia Christian. As a small private school, we would be hard pressed to take care of all our technology needs without their assistance."

"Now, I think of them as friends, and it's a mutually beneficial relationship--they help us here and we help them whenever we can," Unverfert continued.
