JFK Airport Gets 300,000 Square Feet of Air FieldTurf for Improved Safety, Maintenance and Durability

We are very pleased that areas around the approach runways and taxiways at JFK International Airport are outfitted with our innovative Air FieldTurf artificial turf.

FieldTurf, the worldwide leader in sports surfacing and landscaping solutions, was selected by John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport earlier this year to equip areas around the approach runways and taxiways with 300,000 square feet of Air FieldTurf™ synthetic turf. The Air FieldTurf installation at JFK International Airport has since been completed.

The Air FieldTurf system is renowned for improving security, maintenance, and durability involved with airside groundcover.

“We are very pleased that areas around the approach runways and taxiways at JFK International Airport are outfitted with our innovative Air FieldTurf artificial turf,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “Just as many high profile airports around the world are benefitting from a revolutionary FieldTurf groundcover system, so will JFK International Airport. Our aviation-grade artificial turf’s patented properties make it the smart investment for any airport around the globe.”

The Air FieldTurf technological innovation is one of only two systems approved by the United States Federal Aviation Administration per applicable standards and advisory circulars. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circular No: 150/5370-15A - Airside Applications for Artificial Turf.

JFK Airport joins Boston Logan, US Marine Air Base: Miramar, Charles de Gaulle, San Francisco International and Hong Kong International Airports as just some of the world’s major airports to opt for Air FieldTurf’s aviation-grade artificial turf.

Air FieldTurf’s patented aviation turf system contributes to improved visibility, a reduced opportunity for foreign object debris, a mitigated risk from wildlife and the improved drainage and maintenance of the surface.
