Southampton (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) November 2, 2009 -- Tony Blackman has written a new mystery aviation thriller NOW YOU SEE IT and now you don't featuring Peter Talbert, insurance investigator. The book, the fifth in the series, interweaving his investigations of two aircraft accidents with his own personal life, filled with danger, tragedy and hope. ISBN 978-0-9553856-7-4.
A Bermudan airliner trying land in fog at Kennedy Airport, New York overshoots the runway and slides into the River Hudson. Almost at the same time a Taiwanese airliner, also landing in fog, crashes while trying to land in Hong Kong. Talbert flies first to Bermuda and then New York to try to discover why the Captain did not abandon his approach and why he died in his seat.
Back in London Talbert, unexpectedly, is asked to evaluate the latest visual aid being developed for landing in bad weather at the Vision Unlimited facility in Palmdale, California. While there he agrees to go to Hong Kong only to find that the pilots of the Chinese built Taiwanese airline have been imprisoned by the police charged with dangerous flying. The Captain tells him that the autopilot cut-out while still in fog and that one of the Chinese built engines malfunctioned resulting in a very heavy landing, though no-one was killed. Talbert persuades the authorities to let the pilots go back to Taiwan but the chief executive of the airline refuses to let Talbert accompany them.
Back in UK Talbert applies for the new post of Chairman of the UK Transport Safety Board and has an initial interview. Then his private life is invaded with tragedy, in the middle of which he is asked to come for a final selection interview. Later, he returns to New York to look at the crashed fuselage, now in a scrap yard in the Bronx. At the same time Vision Unlimited find their design secrets have been stolen by the opposition and want his help to establish where the leak came from.
Talbert flies to Australia three times while he sorts out the problems of the crashed aircraft, the stolen design and trying to piece together his own life at the same time.
This book is more than just an aviation mystery with Talbert being an investigator since he has to deal with his own problems at the same time. This book will appeal not only to aviation buffs and mystery aficionados but also to readers who like a human story as well.
