Grantham University received the Innovative Best Practice/New Program Award for its VIP2 and SSS training modules. Grantham graduate, Staff Sergeant Louis Sidney, Jr., was honored with the Hall of Fame Award.

Today, Grantham University, a 60-year-old institution delivering accredited online degrees to working adult students around the world, was recognized during the annual Achievement Awards ceremony hosted by the Association of Private Sector College and Universities.

The University received the Innovative Best Practice/New Program Award for its VIP2 and SSS training modules. Grantham graduate, First Sergeant Louis Sidney, Jr., was honored with the Hall of Fame Award. The University also took an honorable mention in the category of Community Service for its Grantham Gives Back charitable initiative.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a leader and innovator of programs that drive student and faculty success,” commented Dr. Fredrick Snow, president of Grantham University. “But, I am very proud of the fact that Louis is the recipient of the student Hall of Fame Award. He is not only an outstanding student, but an exceptional father and Soldier, who truly embodies the spirit of the students we serve.”

1SG Sidney is the First Sergeant of the Jackson Recruiting Company of the U.S. Army in Mississippi. Like many working adult students, he juggled work and family responsibilities with the pressures of earning a college degree. He did it, not only for himself, but also to ensure a successful future for his daughter, Zakia.

1SG Sidney inspired his subordinates to not only improve their performance in the Army, but to appreciate the value of education and the role it would play in their futures. Thanks to his inspirational leadership, all 34 recruiters under his command are now pursuing a college education.

Grantham University delivers a VIP education by employing a comprehensive approach through expanded student access and support that leads to student success, retention, and graduation.

One of the newest and most successful initiatives that the University has implemented is a two-pronged approach: Swaddling Support Services (SSS) and VIP2, “Be Visible. Be Immediate. Be Personal and Be Proactive.” This approach was created by Cheryl Hayek, associate provost of instruction and dean of faculty at Grantham University.

In addition to today’s recognition at the Achievement Awards ceremony, these two training models received special recognition at the 15th Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning.

Grantham University’s accredited online degree programs are flexible and portable, allowing students to fit education into their life instead of arranging life around their education. The University offers a variety of associate, bachelor and master’s online degrees in areas such as Business Administration, Business Intelligence, Business Management, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, Human Resource Management, Information Systems Security, and Medical Coding and Billing.
