We are excited by the caliber of this year’s entries, and look forward to honoring the best and brightest for, by and about women on May 21 in Los Angeles and June 26 in New York.
McLean, VA (PRWEB) January 30, 2013
Leaders from a variety of media organizations convened in Washington, DC, this weekend to participate in the judging of the 2013 Gracie Awards from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF). The judges participated in the peer review, deliberation and scoring necessary to select the 2013 Gracie Award winners. The record-number of media entries were reviewed during this weekend’s marathon judging session, hosted at the National Press Club.
The Gracies each year recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment, as well as individuals who have made contributions to the industry. The awards program also encourages the realistic and multifaceted portrayal of women in entertainment, commercials, news, features and other programs.
“From the record number of Gracies entries, to the hospitality of the National Press Club, to the dedication of our judges, this was a wonderful way to kick off the 2013 Gracies,” commented Kay Olin, AWMF Board Chair. “We are excited by the caliber of this year’s entries, and look forward to honoring the best and brightest for, by and about women on May 21 in Los Angeles and June 26 in New York.”
Winners will be announced in mid February. The Gracies Gala, which honors national winners, will return to the Beverly Hilton Hotel on May 21, 2013. The recipients of the Gracie Awards for excellence in local, online, public and student markets will be honored on June 26, 2013, at the Hilton New York.
The Gracies are presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Alliance for Women in Media which supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service campaigns and scholarships to benefit the public and women in the media. The Gracie Awards, established in 1975, honor programming and individuals of the highest caliber in all facets of radio, television, cable and web-based media, including news, drama, comedy, commercials, public service, documentary and sports.
