Former publishers of Tampa's Alternative Yellow Pages™, Paula McDonald and Julie Krohn are breaking new ground in GLBT publishing with the formation of AYPagesUS™ the world's first franchised gay and gay friendly Yellow Pages. Their goal is to help franchisees to create a standard in the industry by focusing on principles, core values, and commitment, in turn, providing the advertisers what they pay for.

"We are offering to the public an opportunity that has never been available before," states McDonald. "We have created a thorough system that affords entrepreneurs the opportunity to have their own successful franchise in this unique and rewarding business." The owners hope to use their 10 years of experience publishing Tampa's AYP® to teach franchisees how to make their directories successful by forming long-term relationships with advertisers.

Passion to make a difference and bring a personal touch to the business world has driven McDonald since establishing Tampa's AYP® in 1997. The recent decision to sell the local directory stemmed from her diagnosis with a rare form of leukemia. It was during this sale that the opportunity of franchising was presented in what she refers to as a "serendipitous way." "I couldn't let go of the idea and I won't let any illness stand in the way of this opportunity to help others create successes of their own," explains McDonald.

With combined experience of over forty years in the industry, the officers and staff are dedicated to bringing together the loyal gay community, non-discriminating individuals and business owners in order to affect social change, promote equality and prosperity while preserving the integrity of a strong and vital GLBT community.

AYPagesUS™ franchisees will have an exclusive territory in which to offer advertising opportunities to local business owners. The printed yellow page directory and related website, AYPagesUS.com, will work concurrently to provide franchisees and advertisers maximum exposure locally and nationally.
