The nominations are in for the B2B Twitterer of the Year (B2BTOTY) Awards, which honor outstanding contributions by businesses and individuals in the promotion and use of Twitter in B2B marketing.

The third annual awards are the brainchild of B2B marketer Joseph Zuccaro (@joezuc), president of Allinio and a member of the B2BTOTY steering committee, who said the response level this year has “really made a positive statement about the growing use of Twitter by organizations that are primarily business-to-business.”

“There was a deluge of nominations submitted this year,” Zuccaro said, “especially in the two weeks leading up to the Dec. 17 deadline.”

More than 350 businesses and individuals were nominated, across 10 categories: Local/Regional B2B Company – Local B2B Manufacturer ; Local/Regional B2B Company – Services; National/International B2B Manufacturer; National/International B2B Services Company; B2B Trade Association; B2G Company; “Boss Tweet” B2B Personality; B2B Publications; Business Journalists; and B2B Twitter App.

Nominations were submitted via tweet at http://www.B2BTOTY.com.

"Among our pool of more than 50 semi-finalists, we see examples of Twitter being used very effectively as a platform for communication, branding and engagement,” said Andrew Spoeth, chairperson of the B2BTOTY judging committee.

Other judges for the competition include such industry notables as Chris Herbert (@B2BSpecialist), founder and CMP of Mi6; Galen DeYoung (@GalenDY), managing director of Proteus B2B; and Antonio Altamirano (@antonio), founder of Tangelo.

“The judging panel is currently evaluating the top B2B Twitterers based on several factors, including influence, Twitter strategy, and effective use of the microblogging platform,” Spoeth said. “We look forward to compiling the results, and are pleased to be working with such a great set of candidates."
