Boulder, Colorado (PRWEB) July 17, 2012
Leading baby carrier producer and babywearing advocate Boba Inc. announced today its release of a new baby carrier, the first-of-its-kind BobaAir. The carrier, loosely fashioned after the company’s popular Boba Carrier 3G soft-structured carrier, but made exclusively from high-tech nylon fabric and weighing in at just 11 ounces (.7 pounds), folds into itself to fit in a large pocket or purse and provides one of the most portable, affordable, and easy-to-use carriers on the market today. The company hopes the innovative design will not only support current parents who use baby carriers and wraps with their babies and toddlers, but will also help introduce the benefits of babywearing to new families that may not have considered using a carrier before.
BobaAir is the lightest baby carrier on the market and the size and construction of the carrier comes with a number of valuable benefits including:
Using baby carriers, wraps and slings (aka “babywearing”), while a standard parenting practice in traditional world cultures, has been popularized in modern Western culture and seen tremendous growth in recent decades via babywearing advocates such as Dr. William Sears (also credited with propagation of the instinct-based parenting style popularly referred to as Attachment Parenting) and parenting resource organizations like La Leche League. BobaAir is the latest example of how babywearing technology has evolved in the U.S., Europe, Australia and some Asian countries in recent years.
Generally based on traditional fabric wrap-style carriers such as the Mexican rebozo or the Chinese mai-tai, the evolution of carrier design has brought to modern market a number of baby carrier styles, beginning primarily in the 1970’s. Woven fabric wraps and hip carriers such as ring slings made way for today’s stretchy fabric baby wraps and soft-structured carriers such as the Boba Carrier 3G. All of these carriers and their manufacturers no doubt have referenced each other while innovating in areas of user preference. Now, with the introduction of BobaAir, there is a carrier on the market that combines the best of many style features like durability, comfort, ease of use, and lightweight packability, and makes it more accessible to a wide range of modern families.
“BobaAir is our answer to the needs expressed by our customers for something very portable and quick to put on and put away,” said Abby Armijo, Executive Vice President of Boba Inc. “We are also marketing this to a wider range of parents, such as outdoor enthusiasts, to help introduce the benefits of babywearing to more families.”
Reported benefits of babywearing include less crying, reduced instances of colic, greater bonding and child/parent communication, support of breastfeeding, ease of transport, and greater mobility and freedom for caregivers.
Boba Inc. will exhibit at this year’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market and is in negotiations with a number of top outdoor retailers to introduce BobaAir to the outdoor sports and recreation market.
BobaAir is available at brick-and-mortar and online retailers internationally staring July 17, 2012, and in the company’s online retail store. Visit the Boba Inc. website to find a listing of BobaAir baby carrier retailers. BobaAir retails for $65.00.
