First-language support allows students to hear key vocabulary, new concepts and some instruction in their first language
Provo, UT (Vocus) September 23, 2010
Imagine Learning, a leading provider of English language and literacy software, recently released the latest version of its flagship product, Imagine Learning English. The update features new content specifically designed to help students succeed in the classroom and on state tests.
Enhancements to the program include innovative new activities, powerful assessment tools for administrators and first-language support in Russian.
“We are always adding new curriculum, new languages and new content to our program,” said Derek Dobson, director of products at Imagine Learning. “Every year, we release an updated version that is available to schools for the start of the new school year.”
New activities designed to teach cross-curricular academic vocabulary that students are likely to encounter in the classroom and on standardized tests are featured in the release.
“We’ve enlarged the size of our academic vocabulary instruction because mastery of academic language is such an important determinant of success for all students, especially English learners,” said Clydie Wakefield, vice president of instructional design.
The update also offers new assessment tools specifically designed for administrators, including reports that track student progress at the school and district level.
The update also features first-language support in Russian. “First-language support allows students to hear key vocabulary, new concepts and some instruction in their first language,” said Wakefield.
Imagine Learning English offers first-language support in a variety of languages commonly spoken by English learners.
