The seven-day, six-night tour is split between the two destinations and begins in bustling Beijing. Whilst in the Chinese capital, travelers will have the opportunity to visit all the major sites and attractions of the city as well as enjoy some insider experiences that few foreigners have the chance to do.
The Beijing leg of the customizable tour includes a trip to one of the lesser-seen sections of the magnificent Great Wall of China, a visit to the inspiring Forbidden City and a stop at the majestic Summer Palace.
While in Beijing, travelers can also take a deeper look at China and local culture with visits to the Temple of Heaven Park, White Cloud Temple and Beijing Mosque to invesitigate the nations complex relationship with religion. Before leaving Beijing, travelers will be given the chance to tour around the ‘798’ art district in Dashanzi, regarded as the nation’s most important arts district.
After three nights, the city tour moves to Tokyo, the enigmatic and intense Japanese capital. The exploration of Tokyo begins with lessons in the martial art of Aikido, a study of shuji (Japanese calligraphy) and then a visit to a sword museum in Shibuya to learn about katana swords. The tour then makes a stop at a sake brewery to learn about the brewing (and drinking) process of the rice spirit.
The final day of the tour includes the opportunity to experience some of the most beautiful gardens in Tokyo at Hama-Rikyu Teien, also known as Kyu Shiba Rikyu Gardens. The next stop takes travelers to Asuksa in Tokyo’s Shitamachi where they will discover the Sensoji Temple and the streets teeming with craft shops that surround it. The tour of Tokyo is rounded off with a stroll along Omote-sando, nicknamed the ‘Tokyo Champs-Elysees’ before visiting the majestic Meiji Shrine.
