This tour of the Guangdong province allows a fascinating insight into the South Central region of China, a place filled with myriad delights and intriguing architecture.

The five-day, four-night China tour takes travelers to experience the highlights of the province, starting in Guangzhou. While there, they can learn about the fascinating culture of South Central China – a region which has played a large role in shaping the country’s development. The tour includes guided excursions to Shmian Island, the Qing Ping and Longjin market as well as the Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family.

From Guangzhou, the tour moves to Kaiping to discover the unique diaolou – fortified multi-storey towers that were built in the 19th century to protect the people of the region during the turmoil of the Opium Wars and Trading Rebellion.

Next the tour (which can be altered depending on travelers preferences) offers the chance to take a guided bike tour around Chikan, Zili and Majianglong before visiting Ruishi Lou situated in the village of Jinjiang, which is said to contain the most beautiful diaolou in the region.

The China tour will also take travelers to the ‘Thousand-year Village’, a Yao hill tribe community where guests on the trip have the unique opportunity to spend the night in a local home, eating a lovingly prepared dinner made by a host family – an unmissable insider experience.

Finally, the customizable China tour reaches Yingde, a spectacular region of natural beauty sat underneath the magnificent Tianmengou Mountain. Here, travelers will have the chance to take a walking excursion, climbing up the 5th station of the mountain trek before spending the night in a wood cabin resort which specializes in holistic healing treatments.

“As we continue to expand our tailor-made services in China, we’re thrilled to be able to open up more and more fantastic destinations in this vast and diverse nation,” said Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan. “This tour of the Guangdong province allows a fascinating insight into the South Central region of China, a place filled with myriad delights and intriguing architecture.”
