Will current generations live to see Armageddon? Are there really sinister forces at work, encouraging its imminent arrival? If so, who exactly are they? In his provocative new book, RACING TOWARD ARMAGEDDON, Michael Baigent, NY Times bestselling author and one of the most controversial religious theorists of our time, turns his keen attention to modern-day Jerusalem and its increasingly important role in global affairs.

Armageddon. The End Times. The Final Battle. The Rapture. The return of the Da'jaal. Within the three major Abrahamic religions there are many names, and many different prophecies about the end of the world. Perhaps most familiar to us in America is the Book of Revelation, which describes the end of the world and the final battle of Armageddon. But sacred texts in Judaism and Islam also have their own unique foreshadowing of the End Times. There are striking similarities among the prophecies of these three faith traditions, and, according to bestselling author Michael Baigent, today there are fundamentalist extremists within each of these religions who seek to fulfill those violent prophecies.

In his provocative new book, RACING TOWARD ARMAGEDDON, Michael Baigent, bestselling author and one of the most controversial religious theorists of our time, turns his keen attention to modern-day Jerusalem and its increasingly important role in global affairs. Here, he explores yet another of his explosive theories: that hard-liners within the three great Abrahamic religions, many of whom hold positions of enormous influence in government, industry, and the military worldwide, are working to hasten our end as prophesied in each of their texts and traditions of faith.

According to Baigent, those at the extreme edge of Orthodox Judaism want to rebuild the original Temple in Jerusalem. That, of course, would inflame the Islamic world since important Muslim sites would be destroyed in the process. Fundamental Christianity has only to look to the Book of Revelation to prepare for an epic battle and the return of Jesus. Meanwhile, Islam awaits the Hidden Iman and the creation of a worldwide caliphate.

Baigent takes readers to the assembly hall of the UN, the boardrooms of major businesses and powerful lobbying groups, the cabinet meetings of world leaders, the ranches of U.S. cattle breeders, congregations of the faithful, and the narrow winding streets of Jerusalem today, where we meet the many diverse, public and clandestine figures driving a perilous messianic agenda forward.

Exposing these forces, the myths upon which many of their beliefs are based, the stealth actions they have been taking for decades, and the insidious and potentially devastating effect they are having upon the social, cultural, and spiritual fabric of our society, RACING TOWARD ARMAGEDDON poses the pressing question: Can we really afford to remain oblivious much longer?
