To help grow operations on the West Coast through our Balfour Beatty Construction and Howard S. Wright brands, Balfour Beatty announces key leadership changes in the company’s West Region. The West Region serves both public and private clients in Washington State, Oregon, California, and Arizona.
Several senior and long-tenured leaders within the business have transitioned to the following roles:
Dale Pellow has been named Chief Executive Officer of the West Region. In this role, Pellow will oversee operations for both Howard S. Wright and Balfour Beatty Construction businesses within the region. Pellow will also participate in strategic planning and goal setting for the national Balfour Beatty Construction business. Prior to becoming Region CEO, Pellow served as Chief Operating Officer of the Howard S. Wright businesses. He helped guide the company through 10 years of consistent growth along the West Coast.
Eric Stenman has been promoted to national Chief of Enterprise Development. Stenman will maintain his office in San Diego, but will be responsible for running the company’s national capability center, providing expertise in integrated project delivery, technology innovations, best practice and knowledge sharing, vertical market business segments including healthcare, mission critical, and energy retrofit, and key national business groups in sustainability, P3, and Zero Harm.
Brian Cahill has been named Division President in the Southwest, based out of San Diego and overseeing operations in Southern California and Arizona. Cahill joined the company in 1992 in the San Diego office of Barnhart, Inc, which today operates as Balfour Beatty Construction. Cahill is a Certified Construction Manager and LEED Accredited Professional, served as a U.S. Navy Diver for five years, and holds a degree in Aviation Science from San Diego Mesa College. Cahill serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego.
Gordon Childress will serve as Division President in Northern California. As the Oregon Division President for the last two years, Childress sustained a deep connection to the Oregon market, while maintaining relationships with Owners that conduct business in both the Northwest and California. With more than 24 years in the industry, he has a wide range of experience in local, national, and international construction, including six years in the Bay Area. He holds a degree in Building Construction from Texas A & M University.
Dan Peyovich has assumed the role of Division President in Washington State. Peyovich has been with the company 13 years in the Seattle office of Howard S. Wright. He is a member of the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) and recently traveled to Washington D.C. to speak at the LCI Congress. Peyovich has a degree in Construction Management from the University of Washington.
Jim Sather has accepted the position of Division President in Oregon. Sather has been with the company for 17 years and has been instrumental in growing and sustaining the Oregon Division, working with several clients up and down the west coast. Sather is currently a participant on the company’s Community Investment Committee and is a member of BOMA. He graduated from Oregon State University.
Brad Nydahl will continue to serve in an executive leadership role supporting the company’s West Region. A 35+ year construction veteran, Nydahl has been in a senior leadership position at Howard S. Wright since 1993. During this time, Howard S. Wright went from a $60M a year Northwest-focused business to a major west coast business, exceeding $800M a year. Nydahl also participates in strategic planning and goal setting for the national Balfour Beatty Construction business.
