Champion of IDEAS Blue Level for Secondary Schools Released by Ballard & Tighe; Teaches Intermediate English Language Learners
Ballard & Tighe -- publisher of resources for English language learners -- has just released Champion of IDEAS Blue Level, which is an intermediate English language instruction program for middle and high school students. Champion of IDEAS is comprehensive, systematic, and standards-based and organized by language level, rather than grade level.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 27, 2008 -- Ballard & Tighe, Publishers today announced that the second part in the Champion of IDEAS program, Champion of IDEAS Blue Level, is now available for intermediate English language instruction in middle and high schools. Champion of IDEAS is an English Language Development (ELD) program that is comprehensive, systematic, and standards-based and organized by language level, rather than grade level.

Champion of IDEAS develops and refines social language and builds academic language proficiency through content-specific vocabulary and concepts, idiomatic and figurative expressions, and grammatical and linguistic structures. The program taps into different student learning styles and engages all senses during the learning process. With Champion, students also refine their English academic skills in reading, writing, and research through the use of graphic organizers and specialized dictionaries.
"Champion of IDEAS teaches English in a sequenced process, emphasizing all four language skills into its instructional program from the very beginning," said Mark Espinola, CEO of Ballard & Tighe. "The Champion program is based on scientific research and it is aligned to state ELD standards. The complete Champion program includes support materials, resources, and assessments as well as non-consumable student textbooks (Champion Reader), workbooks (Champion Writer), assessments (Champion Tester), and a library of literature books. A comprehensive teacher's guide with CD-ROM resources lays out the instructional plan and provides detailed instructions on how to use all the program components.
The Champion of IDEAS program series is organized into three parts for middle and high school learners. The Red Level--released in Fall 2007--covers the beginning and early intermediate language levels. The Yellow Level is for early advanced and advanced English language learners and is in development.
