In the medical device manufacturing industry, connector size and costs are critical. Balluff’s new miniature MIB utilizes industry standard, dual density connectors in a metric threaded 8mm sealed unit for all remote device connections. By incorporating passive technology, these blocks concentrate signals into one easy to use homerun cable. These homerun cables allow the miniature MIB to be remotely mounted with the devices and carry the signals back to the control system via a cable out or quick disconnect cable. The passive technology allows each point to be used as inputs or outputs capable of carrying up to 2 amps per contact with a 6 amp total current.

The dual density connectors allow for two signals per remote device. A typical application would include a Balluff V-Twin™ magnetic field sensor used with pneumatic cylinders. The V-Twin provides two sensors with a single connector, which sends two signals with one sensor cable back to the high density MIB. This solution reduces sensor and cabling costs without sacrificing reliability or quality.
