Banff Lake Louise Welcomes You to Winter
Families shine at Winterstart Festival
Banff National Park, AB (PRWEB) November 19, 2007 -- Families are on the top of our list this year, as the annual Winterstart Festival launches a Gingerbread House decorating demonstration and competition in Banff and the Little Chippers ice carving in Lake Louise. Join us in Banff National Park from November 24 to December 2nd, 2007 for a fun filled family getaway just a hop-ski-and-a-jump away.
Lake Louise Mountain Resort welcomes the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup Races for the 18th year in a row. Races will take place on November 24-25 and December 1-2. Families can enjoy a day skiing together or watch the races as skiers from around the world compete against each other. At the base of the mountain children will be amazed by the ice castle and will even have the opportunity to try their hand at ice carving.
A first this year, local pastry chefs will compete against each other to create the most impressive gingerbread house (or should we say castle!). Families will also have the chance to build their own house and win fabulous prizes together. Once the competition wraps up, the action moves down the street for Santa Claus' arrival, undoubtedly Banff's most famous returning visitor. The parade, displaying a variety of colourful and magnificent floats, will stroll down Banff's main street on the evening of November 24th, bringing smiles to faces of all ages.
On November 30 and December 1, the CP Rail Jam Street Party will take over a few blocks of Banff Avenue to feature amateur and professional rail jam competitions. With over $20,000 in prizes, skiers and snowboarders of all ages will showcase their skills as they get ready for the new winter season to arrive.
Banff National Park is home to three world-class ski resorts: Sunshine Village, Ski Norquay and Lake Louise Mountain Resort and the resort towns of Banff and Lake Louise. Banff National Park offers activities for children of every age (including 30 years old and over). Banff and Lake Louise offer year-round attractions for families of all sizes and kid-friendly activities throughout the destination.
