Banjos Direct, which was launched in October 2011 has become a leading player in the British banjo market and is at the forefront of a revival in the instrument's popularity.
Founder of the company, the former brand strategy consultant Simon Middleton, explained: "All the evidence across the musical instrument sector is that the sector as a whole is stagnant, but that banjos and related instruments are one of the few areas of growth.
"Since our launch which is only 9 months ago, we've experienced an extraordinary level of interest in the banjo from experienced musicians and beginners alike."
Banjos Direct, which sells resonator guitars, mandolins and other folk instruments, as well as banjos is based in Norwich in the UK, but sells instruments all over the world.
The company operates a small showroom for customers but says more than 95% of its sales are made online.
"We are particularly proud of shattering the myth that people won't buy banjos online. They certainly buy from us, and we believe that's because customers have learned to trust the quality of our instruments and the service," Middleton explained.
"In fact we have proved that putting together modern and efficient e-commerce combined with superb, personal, customer service is a magic combination," added the banjo entrepreneur.
Banjos Direct is the main UK dealer for American brands GoldTone and Nechville, as well as an official dealer for Ozark, Barnes and Mullins, Pilgrim and Ashbury. The company recently began manufacturing its own range of banjos in the UK. Its Islander range is the only production range of banjos currently being manufactured in England.
Banjos Direct is the UK's fastest-growing specialist banjo retailer, leading the renaissance of interest in the banjo amongst players of every age and background. The Norwich-based company is the UK's leading stockist of USA brands GoldTone and Nechville, and also stocks instruments by Barnes & Mullins, Pilgrim, Ozark and Tanglewood.
Founder and CEO of Banjos Direct, Simon Middleton, is frontman of English-Americana band The Proposition, whose debut album 'King Snake Devil Shake' was released this year. Middleton is also the author of several books on marketing and branding, including 'Build A Brand In 30 Days' and the new guide to personal reinvention 'Brand New You'.
