Since August 8, 2009, Typhoon Morakot's aftermath has left over a hundred dead and thousands displaced. Partnered with the Tzu Chi Foundation, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, and Chinese Yellow Pages, U. S. In response to Typhoon Morakot's aftermath, merchant service provider U.S. Bankcard Services, Inc. has created a video to urge U.S. donations for disaster relief in southern Taiwan. Joined by the Tzu Chi Foundation and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, U. S. Bankcard Services has created digital and print media to seek American donations for Typhoon Morakot disaster relief.

Since Typhoon Morakot's torrential rains ravaged southern Taiwan on August 8, 2009, there has been 123 confirmed deaths and more than 380 people presumed dead. More than 1.5 million were forced to evacuate their homes. 14,000 have been displaced, with 5,000 living in camps after their homes were destroyed by the most devastating typhoon to hit Taiwan in over half a century. Though the typhoon has since moved, large numbers of people are still without water or electricity, and there has been a significant damage to crops, livestock fisheries, forestry, and infrastructure.

"U.S. Bankcard Services is deeply mournful for the aftermath of Typhoon Morakot in Southern Taiwan, and for the thousands of men, women, and children who have lost their homes," says U.S. Bankcard Services President and CEO Chris Chang. "By creating this video, we hope to unite resources through media so we can pay tribute to the resilient and courageous Taiwanese spirit and aid those in need."

For maximum exposure, U.S. Bankcard Services has posted their video in YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other Web communities, such as the Chinese Yellow Pages. In addition, U.S. Bankcard Services has dedicated an exclusive website for the Typhoon Morakot disaster relief efforts (usbsi.com/88).
