I think it's pretty easy to get overwhelmed by tile choices

This fall has bathroom wall tile on the brain. This month the bathroom design Web site focuses on tile of all sorts, from the colorful and shimmery to the rustic and tumbled.

"I think it's pretty easy to get overwhelmed by tile choices," said Senior Editor Mark Rumble. "We think our section about bathroom tile can help people understand the major differences in tile materials, while also giving them some ideas for design."

The team talked with tile experts from many of the leading tile manufacturers, like Ann Sacks and Oceanside Glasstile, as well as smaller, artisan manufacturers like Trikeenan Tileworks.

The bathroom tile section on includes:

  •     A 15-page slide show with some of the latest looks in tile. The tile slide show also explains the differences between common tile materials, such as porcelain and ceramic.
  •     A materials comparison chart, providing a quick reference for anyone who wants to know the pros and cons of different types of tile.
  •     A glossary providing definitions of frequently used tile terminology, giving consumers the lingo to talk to tile installers and showroom salespeople.

Additional information about tile design trends can be found in iBaths' Bathonista Blog, which includes an interview with tile expert Jen Renzi about the latest design trends, as well as a blog post featuring some of the newest tile offerings from European manufacturers.

About is a comprehensive resource for homeowners seeking information and inspiration for beautiful baths. This independent online publication features photography, bathroom design trends and ideas, and new product updates--all in a user-friendly format that puts knowledge at consumers' fingertips.
