The money that we raise helps the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation provide support for patients and their families, and makes it possible to perform research that improves lives and will hopefully one day lead to a cure for this disease.
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (PRWEB) May 11, 2012
“Born-to-be-wild” Bayer CropScience employees, families and retirees donned their helmets and revved up their motorcycles on Sunday, May 6 in the ninth Triangle Ride for Kids® to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation®, an organization dedicated to supporting research on the cause and cure of childhood brain tumors. Hundreds of riders took to the road on the 50-mile trip from a Jordan Lake State Recreation Area in Apex, N.C. to Pittsboro, N.C. and back to celebrate the lives of brave children who are battling or have survived brain tumors.
This year, Bayer CropScience raised $25,685 and was the top fundraising team for the third year in a row. Each company participant showed dedication to changing the outlook and creating a better tomorrow for those suffering from pediatric brain tumors and the company’s donation contributed to the Triangle Ride for Kids® raising a total of $92,700. Funds were raised by Bayer CropScience through donation of lunch proceeds, silent and live auctions, and a “bring your child to work” day bake sale hosted by the children of employees, along donations from generous employees, friends and family.
“It is all about the children and that is why we are here today,” said Ashley Holland, Bayer CropScience Ride for Kids® committee co-chair, during the Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 6 following the motorcycle ride. “The money that we raise helps the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation provide support for patients and their families, as well as scholarships for survivors, and makes it possible to perform research that improves lives and will hopefully one day lead to a cure for this disease.”
The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® Institute at Duke University in Durham, N.C. is one of three in the foundation’s Institute Program and has received over $12 million in grants since 2003.
