ING Bay to Breakers 12k -- one of the world's largest footraces -- features elite and costumed runners, ING Greater Body Expo, custom-designed chip timing and ING Footstock, a free post-race concert with headliner band The Last Goodnight. Festivities kickoff with the Elite Athlete Press Conference on Friday, May 16 at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero.

Elite Runners press conference and luncheon

This is the major media opportunity to interview the 2008 elite runners. The world's fastest runners compete for the opportunity to win the world's largest 12k champion's purse of up to $41,750. This incentive-laden elite "race within a race" offers extra bonus money for achievements during the race that is sure to tighten up the swift field of world-class athletes that includes 2007 champion John Korir, Lineth Chepkurui, Tigist Tufa and John Yuda.

Expo is a premiere 2-day health and fitness event with nearly 50 exhibitors, programming, interactive displays, free samples and prizes, and great bargains on apparel and fitness gear. Participants can also pick up their race registration packet on-site both days.

Late registration hours are Friday, May 16 from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the ING Greater Body Expo.

ING Bay to Breakers 12K Race

Elite runners and 70,000 others begin the 97th annual ING Bay to Breakers race according to their respective ZONES. Please see map below.

  •     NOTE: Elite runners begin crossing the finish line around 8:30 a.m.
  •     NOTE: Finish line is located on the Great Highway at Ocean Beach

ING Battle to the Breakers and ING Hayes Street Summit Award
It's the battle of the sexes at the ING Battle to the Breakers which pits the best women runners against the best men runners, giving the women a head start based on the difference in course records for men and women. The first person to cross the finish line will win an extra $25,000 bonus.

The ING Hayes Street Summit Award of $5,000 will be given to the first male and first female to "crest the peak" of the Hayes Street Hill - a dramatic point in the race where winners are made and lost.
ING Footstock Festival
