(Vocus/PRWEB ) November 5, 2009 -- Local author, Rosalyn Cherry, will launch the recent publication of her book, be clutter FREE: Sorting Made Simple at Inquiring Minds on Friday, November 6th, at 7PM at 6 Church Street in New Paltz. Called the Inspiration Tour, participants are asked to donate food, clothing and especially household items to benefit clients of Family of New Paltz. With the coming Thanksgiving and Christmas/ Hanukkah/ Kwanzaa holidays these items can brighten the holiday table of many families.
Rosalyn Cherry, Founder of the be clutter FREE: Sorting Made Simple Method
Cherry wrote this book to inspire, guide and motivate people who find it difficult to let go. The purpose of the tour is to help people build successful experiences letting go of the items they own that are no longer useful, no longer adds to their lives and no longer reflects who they are. Donating to Family of New Paltz can be a real jump-start for people who feel stuck in their desire to simplify their lives to “consume less and share more.”
As an example, if people have household items that fit into these above categories, imagine how the donation of those extra bowls, glassware, dishes, pots and pans or silverware (even if missing a spoon or two) will brighten another family’s holiday table. Participants are also asked to donate clothes, especially winter coats, boots and shoes that are in good shape. The third category of items is always any food and especially holiday foods like stuffing mixes and cranberry sauces.
This also applies to kids’ stuff. Encouraging kids to share their excess toys, books and clothes helps not only the environment and those less fortunate but builds their spirit of generosity. Kids of all ages are also invited to attend this event with their donations in tow.
For her presentation at the book store Cherry plans to share tips on de-cluttering, present the world premier of 'What Am I Telling Myself?' (a fun and experiential representation of why it is often so hard to let go) and sign copies of her book. There will be light refreshments.
If you have items to donate and cannot attend this event you can take them to Family of New Paltz at 51 North Chestnut. If you have larger items to donate please call Family at 845-255-7957 to arrange a pick-up. Cherry hopes you will be inspired to share your unused and unneeded items with those less fortunate.
Cherry plans to take her Inspiration Tour to communities across the Hudson Valley. The purpose is to highlight the role of independent book stores and other local charities supporting the less fortunate in that community.
