Creator of the original Beard Beanie, Beard Beanie, discusses the new fundraising activity that has taken inspiration from Movember, Decembeard.

Beard Beanie, creator of the original fitted beard hat, promotes Decembeard, a new fund raising activity that is sweeping around the world with growing popularity.

Decembeard started in 2010 as a continuation of the well-known fundraising activity, Movember. To take part in Decembeard men must grow and maintain a beard for the whole month of December. The activity raises money for research into bowel cancer, the 2nd biggest cancer killer in the UK.

Since its start Decembeard has picked up speed and become a regular activity for many companies and people. Chris Evans raised £15,000 for charities when he took part in Decembeard and managed to get many of his listeners on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show involved as well.

One company set up a website offering $5,000 of donations out to three separate charities. All people had to do was upload a picture to their website and put a pre-made beard on their face. The company even programed an augmented reality code that would work with webcams for maximum beard placing accuracy.

Beard Beanie fully supports Decembeard and the charities it raises money for. A Customer Service Manager for Beard Beanie commented, “Movember and Decembeard are brilliant opportunities for men to let their faces get a little furry and not have to bother with shaving. Unfortunately it’s hard for women to get involved in either of these because they can’t grow a beard or moustache. With a Beard Beanie women can get involved in both of these great fund raising activities and have some fun making great photos with their fashionable facewear on.”

Already the charity, Beating Bowel Cancer, are getting ready to start running their Decembeard campaigns in order to raise money. Many companies will be taking part this year as it’s a great way to bring a team together. Setting targets for the longest Decembeard and having meetings to discuss how to maintain a beard to a high standard.

The Lumberjack Urban Santa Beard Beanie is one of the products that Beard Beanie provides to customers. This Beard Beanie has a red hat and white beard, which makes it perfect for Decembeard, as anyone can pull it on and look classically Christmassy in Santa’s colours.

Beard Beanie is the creators of the original fitted fake beards. The company have a wide range of products that are perfect for people to wear in order to keep their faces and heads warm. The Lumberjack Urban Santa is the ultimate Decembeard Beard Beanie, and anyone that wants to take part in the fund raising without having a hairy face can easily use this festive facewear.
