I was thrilled to meet David Smith in the flesh. He even had his gold medal with him, which he graciously allowed me to hold for a few moments while I had my picture taken with him.

Beard Beanie, creator and manufacturer of the original beard hat, today announced the company’s encounter with Paralympic gold when Rower, David Smith met Beard Beanie’s Nick Comer at the British Ski and Board Show.

The British Ski and Board Show is the UK’s most interactive winter sports show. This year there were many exhibitors at the show that attendees were able to go to for advice on their products and services, in addition to the special offers that were being offered.

What makes this show more interactive than others is the talks given by speakers that get the audience involved in what they’re talking about that are organised throughout, as well as the many demonstrations. Certain areas were also set out for people to come and learn skills for the slopes and experience living in colder conditions.

Beard Beanie was at the show exhibiting their fantastic goods to anyone that wandered past their stall. Many people were happy to give the fashionable facewear a chance and wear it with Beard Beanies’ own Nick Comer, while he explained the many benefits of a Beard Beanie to avid skiers and snowboarders.

Among those that came to see Beard Beanie at the show was David Smith, London 2012 Paralympian Gold Medallist. Nick Comer, Beard Beanie’s representative at the show added, “I was thrilled to meet David Smith in the flesh. He even had his gold medal with him, which he graciously allowed me to hold for a few moments while I had my picture taken with him, with my face under a beard cap. Unbeknownst to both of us however, in the background while talking to another stallholder, BBC Ski Sunday Presenter Graham Bell was showing off his six pack! He tweeted me the day after (@skigrahambell) apologising for ruining my gold medal moment, but I didn’t even notice! What a great guy.”

Also at the show were The Big Air Team, a group that performs acrobatic basketball dunks around the world, and the Animal Bike Tour, a group of trick cyclists that have put together a show touring around the UK, amongst other professional sports teams. These teams gave great demonstrations to audiences and showed them just what they can achieve if they practice hard enough.

One group of snowboarders donned Beard Beanie’s fake beard hats for some of their demonstrations and became ‘Snowbearders’, showing just how easy it is to keep a warm face while hurtling down the slopes, not needing to worry about adjusting any headgear.

Beard Beanie is the creator of the original fitted beard hat. The company provide a wide range of Beard Beanies to customers throughout the UK. With Movember now in full swing the company are preparing to help people as they grow beards in aid of bowel cancer for Decembeard.
