We are delighted to offer this new tool to our festival patrons. We hope that the application will give them another way to engage and explore new beers from around the country.

Beer Universe, Inc. (http://www.beer-universe.com), a leading online beer community / e-commerce website that revolutionizes the online experience for beer enthusiasts, today announced a partnership with the Oregon Brewers Festival, one of the nation's longest running and best loved craft beer festivals. The partnership will utilize Beer Universe’s proprietary technology, database, and analytics to deliver an iPhone application to nearly 80,000 patrons over the four-day festival (July 28-31, 2011).

According to the Brewers Association, in 2010, there were 1,759 breweries operating in the United States; 1,716 of these were craft breweries. Small and independent craft brewers have propelled the number of U.S. breweries from less than 100 to more than 1,700 in 30 years. The Oregon Brewers Guild reported that Oregon’s brewing companies employ more than 4,900 full and part-time employees and have a total economic impact on Oregon’s economy of ~$2.4 billion.

The 24th annual Oregon Brewers Festival is at the forefront of exposing craft beers to the public: From July 28th – July 31st, 84 craft breweries from all parts of the nation will serve more than 30 beer styles. Another 50 specialty beers will be available for tastes in the Buzz Tent.

Commenting on the partnership, Media Director of the Oregon Brewers Festival Chris Crabb said, “We are delighted to offer this new tool to our festival patrons. We hope that the application will give them another way to engage and explore new beers from around the country.”

Specifically, the Oregon Brewers Festival application powered by Beer Universe will allow users to view the list of breweries and beers at the festival, rate and take notes on beers, and see additional information about festival events. Patrons will be able to retrieve their ratings through the application as well as online through Beer Universe.

Arup Banerjee, CEO of Beer Universe, stated, “Beer Universe is thrilled to partner with one of the longest running beer festivals in the country. The Oregon Brewers Festival app powered by Beer Universe will enable patrons to keep track of their ratings and review them long after they leave the festival.”

The festival will be available through Apple’s App Store and will be free to all consumers: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/oregon-brewers-fest-2011/id451731307?ls=1&mt=8.
