With the holidays coming in, half-marathon-running.com is aware that everyone tends to put on a few pounds. What is the best way for one to stay in shape and still being able to eat? The answer might in fact be surprising.

Running is the best exercise to lose weight and stay in shape. Half-marathon-running.com's Public Relations Director Andrea Smith says, "Our Founder started running with exactly the same reason - to lose some weight. The weight and inches lost were an encouragement for her - so she ran two half-marathons her first year; continued running and went on to run a marathon. All this within a time span of less than 18 months. It goes on to show that if you set a goal and work towards it, you can achieve your goal."

As a perfect way for encouraging beginners to start running, half-marathon-running.com is pleased to announce the introduction of two New E-courses which answer all the questions for a beginner training for a 5K or a half marathon. These online courses for 5K and Half Marathon Training for Beginners are an ideal way to get started with training for a first 5K or half-marathon, make friends and stay in shape during the holidays. "There are so many things to consider while training for a half-marathon and it is really difficult to get them all right without a good training program. Every little difference can make your race a really great experience," Smith adds.

"Many people have the goal to run a half-marathon and never even get started - it may be due to lack of motivation, lack of having a group of friends to run with or intimidation with the distance itself. Beginners start running to lose weight, start too fast, get out of breath or injured and quit within a few weeks," Smith mentions.

While it may seem challenging at first, training for a half-marathon is a lot of fun and it is amazing how our reference changes once we start running. This is especially true for beginners who have either never run before or only run a few miles. Considering all these factors into account, half-marathon-running.com has designed the E-courses to enjoy training for a 5K training for beginners or a half-marathon and connect with fellow runners.
