Berkeley Palmer releases the findings of a survey showing why people are interested in making a career change. The survey, taken from assessments from Berkeley Palmer and some of their affiliates, revealed some interesting views about why job seekers are looking for new opportunities.
Kansas City, KS (PRWEB) July 10, 2007 -- Berkeley Palmer releases the findings of a survey showing why people are interested in making a career change.
The survey, taken from assessments from Berkeley Palmer and some of their affiliates, revealed some interesting views about why job seekers are looking for new opportunities.
There were 4 general categories that were divided in to 10 sub-categories. The survey was based on a random sampling of submissions via Berkely Palmer and the affiliated company's web based assessments. The assessments were completed by professionals who identified themselves as employed, and actively in search of a new career position.
The reasons for making a career change are categorized and ranked as follows:
1) Limited advancement opportunities
2) Over all job security
3) Ready for a change
4) Not happy in their situation or occupation
A spokesman for Berkeley Palmer stated, "This survey shows that job satisfaction is still #1 in the minds of professionals. The first and most predominant category demonstrates that many people feel under-employed and/or underpaid." This first category (limited advancement opportunities) was more than double the next most prolific sub category (senior executive uneasy about the future) in people's expression of why they are seeking a career move. Berkeley Palmer says complaints about working environment and lack of appreciation are a common element in many peoples concerns with their current employment status.
The sub categories when broken out showed the following results:
1) Limited advancement opportunity
2) Senior executive uneasy about the future
3) Haven't found yourself yet
4) Job in Jeopardy due to recent changes
5) Too long at same place
6) Recently sold business (tied with #5)
7) Consultant ready for the security of a full time position
8) Ready to leave a government job
9) Too many jobs in the past
10) Educator ready for a change
While limited advancement was considered a category all its own, other categories were grouped in to major categories. For example the major category of Over All Job Security included the sub-categories of: Senior executive uneasy about the future; Job in jeopardy due to recent changes; Consultant ready for the security of a full time position.
Berkeley Palmer admits that the assessments and overall survey are not a scientific poll, but feels that they are a clear and accurate representation of how people feel about their employment status. The survey was taken from a random sample of over 15,000 assessments.
