Today, MyRatePlan.com, the authority credit card comparison site on the web, has announced its choices for the best balance transfer credit cards currently available. The New Year is upon us, and with it several credit cards have been pulled from the market, and several more new credit card offers have been introduced. Credit card experts from MyRatePlan have researched all of the balance transfer credit cards currently on the market in order to determine their ranking of the top three. The credit card analysts took into account several factors in creating their ranking including 0% Intro APR balance transfer period length, balance transfer fees, annual fees, rewards programs, and more.

Here are the top three best balance transfer credit cards of the year:

1. Discover it Card – The Discover it Card is Discover’s newest credit card offering. Having just pulled the Discover More line of credit cards from the market, Discover also launched the Discover it line of credit cards which improve on the already excellent Discover More cards. With the Discover it Card, cardholders get an 0% Introductory APR on balance transfers for a full 18 months. Cardholders also get a 0% Introductory APR on purchases for 6 months, 5% cash back at restaurants and movies through the end of March, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. In addition the Discover it card carries no annual fee, no overlimit fee, no foreign transaction fee, and no pay-by-phone fee.

2. Citi Simplicity Visa – The Citi Simplicity Visa Card also makes MyRatePlan’s list of the best balance transfer credit cards of the year. With the Citi Simplicity Visa Card, cardholders receive a 0% Introductory APR on balance transfers for 18 months. In addition, cardholders also receive the same 0% Introductory APR on purchases for 18 months. The Citi Simplicity Visa Card also requires no annual fee, and provides cardholders direct access to a customer service representative at all times, and charges no late fees or penalty fees.

3. Capital One Platinum Prestige Card – The Capital One Platinum Prestige Credit Card rounds out this year’s list of the best balance transfer credit cards. With the Capital One Platinum Prestige card, cardholders receive a 0% Introductory APR until March 2014 on both balance transfers and purchases. The Capital One Platinum Prestige credit card also requires no annual fee, offers a $0 Fraud Liability Guarantee if the card is lost or stolen, and provides 24-hour travel and emergency assistance. The Capital One Platinum Prestige card is also customizable with an image that you can provide for the front of the card.
