Hull Barrett, PC is pleased to announce that James B. Ellington has been selected to serve as Chair of the State Bar of Georgia’s Formal Advisory Opinion Board.

The Formal Advisory Opinion Board, on which James B. Ellington will serve as Chairperson, is authorized to draft proposed Formal Advisory Opinions concerning a proper interpretation of the rules of professional conduct. Once the Formal Advisory Opinion Board drafts a Formal Advisory Opinion, it is filed with the Supreme Court of Georgia. The board consists of five at-large members of the State Bar of Georgia, and one member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, Georgia District Attorneys Association, faculty of each American Bar Association accredited law school operating in the State of Georgia, the Investigative and Review Panels of the State Disciplinary Board.

The State Bar of Georgia has more than 42,000 attorneys who are authorized to practice law in Georgia. Mr. Ellington graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1987. As Chair of Hull Barrett’s labor and employment practice group, Mr. Ellington has handled cases involving virtually every aspect of labor and employment law. His commitment to clients transcends current cases, as he frequently counsels clients on new changes in the law and how they will affect clients' employee relations. Mr. Ellington’s general civil litigation practice emphasizes employment litigation, governmental liability and public employment litigation, civil rights litigation and media and communications law. He has tried cases in federal and state courts in the areas of employment discrimination, liability under the Fair Labor Standards Act, civil rights, defamation, invasion of privacy, media access, commercial disputes and products liability.
