This one of a kind hybrid Media Room / Conference Room was a fun project to design...you get an amazing drive-in theater feel as you are treated to stunning picture and sound quality that no drive-in could ever equal.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 25, 2012
DSI Entertainment Systems, a high-end Southern California custom audio video installation firm, has been awarded the following awards at the annual 2012 CEDIA EXPO: Best Media Room (two different awards), Best Home Theater, Best Integrated Home, and Best Dressed System. CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) is the premier trade association representing companies that specialize in designing and installing electronic systems for the home, and their Electronic Lifestyles® Designer Awards are considered to be the most prestigious awards program for the residential electronic systems industry.
A Los Angeles, CA project is the winner of both Best Media Room and Best Integrated Home. Installation of all electronics were retrofit into an architecturally-significant home designed by architect Paul Williams. In the media room, a large flat-panel TV hides behind motorized artwork and the reference-level THX-certified JBL Synthesis sound system and components are hidden in custom cabinetry. This high-performance media room system is an example of a hidden home cinema that integrates into the architecture and interior design. The project won the Best Integrated Home award due to the extensive Crestron home automation control system that was retrofit. The client has simple and intuitive 'smart home' control of the home's new RF lighting system, climate, music, security, pool/spa, motorized shades, landscape audio, and two motorized TV concealment systems. Control is via in-wall and handheld touchscreens in addition to Crestron-connected iPad and iPhone control.
The second Best Media Room winner was decided by popular vote in the CEDIA / HGTV's annual "People's Pick" contest and is located in Carpinteria, near Santa Barbara, CA. It is a hybrid media room that also serves as a conference room, being located in the client's combination office, car and art museum. A 103" plasma TV seemingly "floats" on the wall thanks to recessed blue LED lighting, and all speakers are flush-mounted to be non-intrusive and enhance the high-performance yet casual environment the client desired.
The Best Home Theater winner was also by popular vote from the CEDIA / HGTV People's Pick awards and is located in Malibu, CA. Early acoustic engineering design, ultra-bright video projection featuring a "resizable" motorized masking screen and a combination of audiophile-grade components combine to offer a beyond commercial cinema experience.
Says John Alfano, System Designer at DSI Entertainment Systems, "This one of a kind hybrid Media Room / Conference Room was a fun project to design. Since it resides in a special space, an office / car museum that houses rare high-end collectible automobiles, you get an amazing drive-in theater feel as you are treated to stunning picture and sound quality that no drive-in could ever equal."
