New York, NY (PRWEB) December 06, 2011
Joy of Kosher with Jamie Geller, the world’s largest Jewish food community, announced the launch of the first annual Best of Kosher awards, an online contest recognizing the best of kosher in ten exciting categories, as voted by visitors to JoyofKosher.com.
Beginning Monday, December 5th through January 11th, visitors to JoyofKosher.com can nominate any eligible company or brand and vote for their favorite nominee in up to ten categories, including: Best Kosher Restaurant, Best Kosher Chef, Best New Kosher Cookbook, Best New Kosher Product, Best Passover Resort, Best Kosher Catering Company, Best Kosher B&B/Hotel, Best Kosher Blog, Best Kosher Supermarket, and Best Kosher Winery.
Winners will be announced online on February 1, 2012 and in the February issue of Joy of Kosher with Jamie Geller, a popular bi-monthly print magazine featuring exclusive kosher recipes, scrumptious food photos, inspiring entertaining ideas and interviews with leading kosher chefs and Jewish cookbook authors.
“We are so excited for the Best of Kosher awards,” said Jamie Geller, best-selling author of the Quick & Kosher cookbook series and co-founder of the Kosher Media Network, which publishes the Joy of Kosher website and print magazine. “We want to show that you don’t have to be kosher to love kosher. The Best of Kosher awards will give everyone a chance to showcase their favorite kosher brands and products and encourage even more creativity and innovation in the world of Jewish food.”
What was once only a tiny niche in the specialty food marketplace, is now very much mainstream. The market for kosher-certified foods in the U.S. alone represent a $12.5 billion market, according to a 2008 report by research firm Mintel International Group, a 64% increase from five years earlier.
Millions of people eat kosher products every day without even knowing it. Juices, cereals, yogurts, soft drinks, rice, pasta and beans are commonly found in stores nationwide with reliable kosher certification. Consumers who strictly observe the Jewish dietary laws require special certification on all products they bring into their home and only eat at dining establishments that are under rabbinical supervision.
The Best of Kosher awards will leverage the power of social media to allow brands and companies to promote their products and services to fans and followers on Facebook, Twitter and the social web. Nominees can download a special “badge” to display on their own website to encourage more votes during this innovative five-week long competition and follow the results in real-time on JoyofKosher.com.
Joyofkosher.com combines recipe sharing with comprehensive social networking. Members can post, rate, search and share recipes, discover creative menu ideas, interact with other foodies and read interesting articles every day of the week. New members can register in just a couple of minutes, and the site is completely free.
“JoyofKosher.com is a website for everyone who loves celebrating food with family and friends,” explains Geller, “whether you keep kosher or are just kosher curious, you will find it on our website.”
