Healdsburg, CA (PRWEB) June 18, 2013
Wilson Artisan Wineries is proud to announce their recent fundraiser, “Pack Your Bags,” raised enough money to provide scholarships for 22 local students heading to area colleges for the 2013-14 academic year.
The 12th annual event took place on Saturday, May 11 at the Soda Rock Winery in Alexander Valley just outside of Healdsburg. Ken and Diane Wilson, founders of the Children of the Vineyard Workers Scholarship, partnered with the Sonoma County Farm Bureau to establish the scholarship foundation.
Donations for the live and silent auctions came in from a diverse group of local artists, building supply centers, restaurant and food purveyors, retailers, and of course, the wine industry, which was very generous. All told, the Wilson’s estimated over 150 people were in attendance for the “Pack Your Bags” event.
Vineyard workers from throughout Sonoma County were encouraged to have their children apply for the scholarship, and 22 students have now been awarded money for the 2013-2014 academic year. All students will receive their scholarships this summer in time to aid with tuition, books, enrollment fees, etc.
