We are excited to promote Save Our Beach and we look forward to mingling with foodies and local leaders in social media.
Irvine, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) March 02, 2011
Big Train®, the leading manufacturer and distributor of premium branded powdered and liquid concentrate beverage mixes serving the specialty coffee, foodservice and retail industries, announced the Save Our Beach tweet-up event on March 9, 2011 at 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Information about this event can be tracked on twitter by searching for #saveourbeach.
Attending the event will be local leaders in social media from Orange County and Los Angeles. A “tweet-up” is a gathering where people that have met on twitter.com and then meet in person. Tweet-ups generally have tech savvy networkers experienced in social media. Note: A twitter account or familiarity with twitter is not required to attend this event.
The #SaveOurBeach tweet-up sampling event is being coordinated by MaryAnne Wendt (@maryannewendt on twitter). MaryAnne is leveraging her social media influence to help generate awareness for the event to benefit the Save Our Beach organization, a group dedicated to keeping our local beaches clean.
Kim Masoner, Founder of Save Our Beach (http://saveourbeach.org) will be attending the event.
“I am so excited that MaryAnne Wendt has arranged for an OC Tweetup on 3/9 to help raise awareness and funds for my non-profit organization”, says Masoner. “I don't have children, so I chose to make a difference every day by conducting beach cleanups along the Southern California Coastline so everyone can enjoy our beautiful beaches. I truly believe that one person can make a difference.”
According to Masoner, the first 100 attendees will receive a blue marble, to bring awareness to United By Blue’s Blue Marbles program. The concept is simple: Commit a random act of kindness and pass the blue marble onto someone encouraging them to do the same. “The goal of the Blue Marble movement is to have 1,000,000 marbles circling the globe spreading awareness and love for our oceans”, according to UBB’s website at http://unitedbyblue.com/bluemarble.
"I invite our local social media leaders to a fun evening while supporting Save Our Beach”, according to MaryAnne Wendt. “We're very fortunate to have entertainment provided by the Julia Holland's Eco Hero Kids from Los Angeles (http://www.EcoHeroKids.com) . Talented children ranging from ages 8-11 will be singing their songs about our planet. Attendees will also have a chance to win fabulous door prizes, including an environmental portrait session from Jeff and Dana Sipper of Sipper Photography (http://www.SipperPhotography.com)."
Il Fornaio will be sampling gourmet Italian appetizers and will provide one drink ticket per guest. Big Train will be there to share the company’s latest flavors of chai tea, blended iced coffees and smoothies.
“We are excited to promote Save Our Beach and we look forward to mingling with foodies and local leaders in social media”, says Robyn Hawkins, CEO of Big Train Inc.
To RSVP for the event, go to http://octweetupsaveourbeach.eventbrite.com. There is a $10.00 registration fee, which will be donated to Save Our Beach. Space is limited. Appetizers, Big Train samples, and one drink ticket are included. There will be a silent auction, proceeds of which will also benefit the Save Our Beach organization.
